In a hard fought Grand Final the Bunbury Football Club Colts side took home the cup after an epic battle with a brave HBL colts team for the 2017 title
The work rate of both teams was high in the first quarter as neither gave an inch to come in with scores level at 2.2 a piece for the quarter. Match ups were playing a major part in the game as each team set to nullify their opponents better players while trying to create opportunities to score.
With the ball rebounding from end to end Bunbury opened up a 12 point lead before HBL hit back with a late goal to bring the score back to 5.3 to 4.3 in Bunbury's favour at half time.
In a goal for goal quarter the Bulldogs found themselves again in front leading by 4 points at three quarter time.
Early in the last quarter some of Bunbury's key players in Nathan Ireland, Kai Luzi in the midfield and forward Michael Arkeveld (2 goals for the quarter) stepped up, broke the shackled and converted. In a final 5 goal to 1 last quarter the Bulldogs ran out winners in close fought contest that really only saw the result become clear with 10 minutes to go. The final score was 13.7 to 8.10 for a 27 point victory.
Best a field for the game was Kai Luzi.
