BFC Women Premiers 2017

In an historic day for the South West Football League the Bunbury Football Club took out the inaugural Women's Premiership for 2017

In a see sawing classic the Bunbury Football Club Ladies prevailed in what was a classic finals game that went down to the wire with the Bunbury team grabbing back the lead with less than a minute remaining in the game.

Bunbury started well with all the play but only managed to have 1.2 on the board at quarter time while holding the Harvey team to no score.

A determined Harvey would not be denied and pressured the Bunbury women to come in only a point behind at half time.

During the third quarter both teams controlled periods of play but could not capitalize on their good play resulting in a 3 point lead to Bunbury at the final break.

In a titanic last quarter that had all in the crowd enthralled both sides scored a single goal with the late major from Lilly Taylor (daughter of former league champion Shane "Chunky" Taylor) providing Bunbury with the victory.

Best a field was awarded to Bunbury's Karen Cowley who dominated the mid field all game to prove a critical influence throughout the game.
